  1. What are you going to be doing with a short overview of the role specifics, who will you be reporting to?

I will be responsible for ensuring our site teams are focused on developing, planning and executing our projects safely, within budget and on programme. I aim to do this by creating a seamless link between our commercial and technical teams to ensure our site teams can concentrate on their respective roles. I will be reporting directly to Michael Young.

  1. What department are you going to be working in?

I will be working in the construction department with our commercial and technical teams, as well as our site and senior management teams. Within the department, their roles range from trainee site managers and site managers to Senior Quantity Surveyors, Senior Technical Managers, and Construction Directors.

  1. What’s your work background?

I started in the industry as a Carpenter/Joiner. In this role, I gained practical knowledge and experience working on various projects from self-builds to large residential projects with Tier 1 contractors.

I also have a City and Guilds Carpenter/Joiner qualification and a BSc in Construction Management.

  1. Is there anything you’re looking forward to working on and anything you are hoping to achieve in your role?

In brief, I am hoping my knowledge and experience will be useful when solving some technical and on-site issues in the same breath, that I can use to help further develop our site teams’ skills and knowledge and give them confidence in their everyday roles. Overall, I want to become an asset to AJC and contribute positively to its journey of growth.

  1. What did you like about AJC Group?

After meeting with Mike and Ben, I took huge confidence from them in relation to the company ethos, values and direction. The family approach from the top down is an absolute credit to AJC Directors and I am excited to be a successful addition to the family.

  1. What do you enjoy most about your career?

I enjoy problem-solving and planning work, especially on complex projects as I like to challenge myself in making my thoughts succeed in reality.

  1. What personal qualities help you succeed in your career?

I would like to think I am a calm, level-headed and analytical individual who takes a personal interest and pride in all I strive to achieve. I always aim for high standards for myself and hope that filters through to those around me.
