Career Journey & Aspirations
What’s your work background?
I’ve dabbled in quite a few things! Graphic design, being a chef and restaurant manager, sales, and an architectural technician, all of which led me to where I am today as a Technical Coordinator.
What do you love most about your role, and what are you hoping to achieve in the future?
I love problem-solving. The construction industry has so many variables that no matter how well you plan, challenges still arise. Finding real-time, compliant solutions can be tough, but working through them with experts in their fields is something I really enjoy, especially when we find the perfect fix!
What are the key areas of the business that you focus on?
Coordinating all technical aspects of the build.
What’s one valuable lesson you’ve learned in your career so far?
Communication is key in all aspects of life. Problems are far less likely to arise when communication is clear and effective.
Getting to Know You
What was your first-ever job? How long did you do it, and why did you leave?
I had a paper round in a tiny village with about 12 houses. I had the smallest number of deliveries but the longest route because the houses were so spread out! It took me ages because I’d always stop to read the sports pages.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A basketball player! I got pretty good, but at 5’7”, I was never quite tall enough.
What’s your favourite sport or team?
I love most sports and will watch live games at any opportunity. My football teams are Chelsea & Southampton.
Would you rather be able to fly or breathe underwater?
I considered flying, but the underwater world is fascinating, so I’d have to go with breathing underwater! We know more about the surface of the moon than we do about our own oceans… imagine what’s down there!
What’s your guilty pleasure?
“I’m a Celeb”… I know, I know. But Ant & Dec are just too good!
What are your hobbies?
Anything outdoors! I spend a lot of time in the New Forest, do a bit of running, and try to keep fit.
I also do night landscape photography, capturing the Milky Way over iconic locations like Stonehenge and Durdle Door. Lately, I’ve been experimenting with using my drone for these shots.
On top of that, I’m currently converting my van into a self-sufficient camper with the goal of driving to Thailand! Fun fact: the only water crossing between the UK and Thailand is the English Channel!
Do you have a claim to fame?
Not really, but I was an advising architect for Channel 4’s Love It or List It with Kirstie & Phil.
Travel & Life Goals
What’s one thing on your bucket list?
Converting my van and driving to Thailand—seeing everything along the way.
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
My friends. Friends are the family you choose, and let’s be honest, everything’s better when shared with them.
What’s your ideal holiday?
Something adventurous! I love travelling off the beaten path, making my own memories away from the tourist crowds.
