AJC Group has welcomed its first residents to its award-winning development The Sloop, located in Poole, Dorset. Phoebe and her boyfriend George, recently moved into the £15m apartment scheme, which features homes both for rent, and available to buy with a 5% deposit.
The young couple moved out of Phoebe’s family home in Upton, and chose to rent a one bedroom flat at The Sloop as their very first home together due to its fantastic location. The couple wanted to be closer to Poole town centre and the sandy beaches, as well as the vibrant and popular area of Ashley Cross in Parkstone.
Phoebe said: “For George and I, it’s all about the location – and that’s exactly why we chose The Sloop! The location is brilliant and allows us to enjoy a more social and healthy lifestyle.
“It’s a short walk to Ashley Cross where George and I like to hang out and meet up with friends for dinner and drinks. We love all the independent shops, cafés, pubs, bars and restaurants, and being so close means we can now enjoy a spontaneous day or evening out without all the hassle and travel costs.
“We also have the beach practically on our doorstep, and after living in a quiet residential area of Poole, it’s so nice to be able to quickly walk to a beautiful sandy beach at a moment’s notice – especially in the summer months!
“I am very close to my family in Upton, and often look after my niece and nephew. Being so close to Poole Park is another great perk and they love coming to visit us.
“George and I are keen runners, and at the weekends we love running to the beach or around Poole Park, and grabbing a coffee and pastry at one of the many cafés. The central location of the development means we often have our friends over, and the open plan living area is brilliant for hosting. If we are not having a night in with friends, or going out in Ashley Cross, we tend to go to Bournemouth for the day. We have found travel has been so much cheaper since we moved from Upton, especially getting taxis to and from Bournemouth, as we are now that much closer.
“Immediately when we walked in, we loved the decor. It was finished to a really high standard and the internal finishes are super modern – we especially loved the matt black hardware in the kitchen and bathroom. The general style of the apartment building inside and out is really contemporary and clean, and made it easy for us to picture ourselves living there.
“It was really important for us to find an apartment that would accommodate hybrid working, as both I and George work from home half the week. The spacious open plan dining, kitchen and living area is ideal, and suits us both perfectly. Another bonus is the large floor to ceiling windows in the living area which lets so much natural light in and fills the space. The layout of the apartment itself makes the space a really enjoyable place to live and work.
“We have been surprised at how manageable the bills are, which is definitely due to the energy saving features, such as the air source heat pump and electric radiators. We are currently renting a one bedroom flat on the second floor at £995 a month and living at The Sloop has still allowed us to save, but also enjoy a social life and make the most of the location – it’s the perfect balance! The development has a really nice community feel, and there are already several young professional couples renting in the building.”
Ranging from studios, to spacious two bedroom apartments, The Sloop recently won Residential Development of the Year at this year’s South Coast property Awards.
Located on Commercial Road in the heart of Poole, the site was originally home to the former Sloop pub. Boasting a residents’ roof terrace with views of Poole Harbour and the Purbeck Hills, the 86 energy efficient high-specification apartments are gas free, with electric panel radiators and air source heat pumps.
