Poole based affordable housing partner AJC Group are excited and humbled to have scooped two awards at this year’s South Coast Property Awards. These included the coveted Housebuilder of the Year and Residential Development of the Year for its apartment scheme The Sloop, located in Poole, Dorset.

Held at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton on Thursday 6th June 2024, the event celebrated excellence in commercial property across the South Coast region, with winners announced across 14 categories. The black tie gala was hosted by comedian Simon Evans.

David Cracklen, Director of AJC Group, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have picked up two awards at this year’s South Coast Property Awards, being recognised for our efforts across the business as well as for our The Sloop development. This is a challenging time for the property industry and these award wins really highlight the ongoing support and hard work of all of our team members, as well as our suppliers, and external stakeholders who have worked with us. We would not have been able to achieve what we have done in the past year without all those involved.

“The team had a wonderful time celebrating and we want to congratulate all of the other winners named on the night and all those shortlisted.”

Natalie Gomez, Client Relations Manager, and Hannah Bentley, Operations Manager at AJC Group, said: “We are always very community focused. As part of connecting to these communities we reach out to local schools, hospitals and organisations. For example, local schoolchildren took part in a competition to choose the name of a development, which gave them a sense of ownership to it. We try where possible to help create awarenesses for local charities by fundraising for causes related to housing. Our ESG focus encourages an interaction between our team and local people and our environmental impact, and we feel that we have the best team delivering our businesses four core values of Integrity, Passion, Unity and Doing Different.”

The projects recognised in the Housebuilder of the Year entry include Herbert Avenue, Dorchester Brewery and The Sloop.

Herbert Avenue, located in Bournemouth, was completed in November 2023 and provides 24 ‘move on’ homes for those seeking suitable temporary accommodation. In full partnership with Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council, the scheme achieved Passiv-haus accreditation, ensuring the highest levels of energy efficiency and thermal performance.

Dorchester Brewery, located in Dorchester, will deliver 56 affordable homes for affordable housing provider Aster Group. The highly accessible site is part of the wider regeneration of Dorchester town centre and will result in 56 eco-focussed new homes.

The Sloop, based in Poole, which won Residential Development of the year, is AJC Group’s largest development to date. Nearing completion, it provides 86 apartments across six floors, for both private sale and for rent, with a host of energy-efficient and high-tech extras.

Established in 2011 as AJ Group by Seb Janes and Mark Adams; it became AJC Group in 2018, after David Cracklen joined as a co-owner and director. The team has extensive industry experience as a strategic land promoter, quality new homes developer, and community creator.

AJC Group is delivering 187 mixed-tenure homes in 2024, reflecting a total construction value in excess of £100m.
