AJC Group has been announced as one of 20 contractors awarded a place on the prestigious Southern Construction Framework. The fifth generation of the framework, known as SCF5, aims at adding value, experience, and local knowledge to the regional construction industry.

A member of the National Association Construction Framework and launched in 2006, the Southern framework will deliver up to £4.5 billion worth of public sector construction projects across the South of England, including in education, health, local authority, leisure development and much more. The framework is underpinned by a commitment to create a transparent, equitable and well governed vehicle for delivering value to public sector organisations.

David Cracklen, Director of Dorset-headquartered AJC Group, said: “We are delighted to be awarded a place on SCF5, along with other leading regional and national contractors, such as Bowmer and Kirkland, GallifordTry and Mace. We are proud to be one of 12 newcomers to the framework and very much look forward to the opportunities ahead.

“We are well positioned to add our specialist experience in residential development and affordable housing to future projects procured via this public sector framework. We also welcome the prospect of collaborating with others approved by SCF to deliver excellent partnership projects.”

AJC Group is on track to deliver over 200 mixed-tenure homes during 2023, reflecting a total construction value in excess of £100m. The firm has recently pledged to deliver 500 affordable homes by 2028 and has become one of the most active residential development specialists across the Wessex region.

SCF has been active for nearly 14 years and is a leading procurement framework. It is modelled on a ‘two stage open book’ procurement approach, which aims at making the procurement process as effective as possible, through early engagement and collaborative working with leading contractors across the South of England.

SCF has a proven track record for efficient delivery of major schemes across the south of England and leads the way in both performance management and the production of nationally significant industry data. The framework is committed to engaging local supply chains and delivers initiatives around health and safety, social value, and innovation in construction. The SCF attributes success to its unique integrated team approach, which has an exceptional and demonstrable track record of delivery, cementing its position as a trusted advisor to the public sector.

AJC Group is a finalist in the 2023 Property Week RESI Awards for Small Residential Developer of the Year (1,000 homes or less per annum). The firm won Housebuilder of the Year and Fast Rising Company of the Year at the 2022 South Coast Property Awards, and has also received a national Investors in People Accreditation.

Six residential schemes are currently under construction by AJC Group, including new affordable housing in the village of Okeford Fitzpaine near Blandford Forum. Developments on Lindsay Road, The Sloop, and Herbert Avenue, are all located in Poole, while The Sonnet apartment scheme is in Bournemouth. The company has also recently started construction at one of its largest projects, which will deliver 57 affordable houses and apartments for Aster Group, within the former Dorchester Brewery regeneration scheme.
