Affordable Housing Specialist AJC Group Makes a Trio of Promotions and Several Strategic Hires

Dorset-based affordable housing specialist AJC Group has announced a trio of recent internal promotions, as well as new appointments. The investment in people is enabling the business to facilitate growth, due to an increasing number of residential development projects on site or in the pipeline.

The promotions include, John Langley, Mike Young and Tarek Tabbah who have all worked for AJC Group for a number of years. The trio has been promoted to head up each of their respective departments, creating three new roles in the business.

John Langley has been with the business for a number of years with previous experience gained working for Midas group and Greendale construction. He has been promoted from the position of Senior Quantity Surveyor to Head of Commercial. John has been with the company since it’s early days and has been instrumental in it’s ambitious growth.

Mike Young previously worked as a site manager at Bloor Homes before working his way up to Contracts Manager for four years. Prior to that he worked in site management for Churchill Retirement Living, before joining AJC Group in Feb 2021 as Construction Operations Manager. Mike has now been promoted to Head of Construction and will oversee the build programmes for all the housebuilder’s existing and upcoming sites.

Tarek Tabbah joined as Technical Manager in 2021 and has now been promoted to Head of Technical. Tarek, who studied Construction Engineering at the University of Portsmouth, is Beng Qualified and passionate about the design and delivery of large residential and mixed-use projects. He is also an active member of the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE). Previously, Tarek was Technical Manager at Drew Smith Homes and Senior Technical Coordinator for Inland Homes, having commenced his career as a Graduate Civil Engineer for Persimmon Homes plc.

As well as the recent promotions and restructuring of the business, AJC Group has welcomed Ben Robinson, Tracey Grayling, Scott Carey, and Nathan Janes, as new hires.

AJC Group is on track to deliver over 200 mixed-tenure homes during 2023, reflecting a total construction value in excess of £100m. The firm has become one of the most active affordable housing specialists across the Wessex region.

With seven residential schemes under construction, including sites in the villages of Okeford Fitzpaine and Hazelbury Bryan, both near Blandford Forum, West Cliff Gardens in Bournemouth and Lindsay Road, The Sloop and Herbert Avenue, all in Poole. The company has also recently started construction at one of its largest projects, which will deliver 57 affordable houses and apartments for Aster Group within the former Dorchester Brewery regeneration scheme.
